What Men Want has been created with the truncated text and stills from real interactions the artist had with unknowing anonymous men on the internet. Taken out of context and with the artist’s voice removed these conversations become lone monologues, poems of lust and disappointment. The selection process dictated that the men had to already be in a state of arousal, having chosen to show their genitals but not their face. When watched in isolation their compliments, questions and demands are aimed at the viewer but when shown alongside the accompanying series, Lessons in Seduction, they become the vocal half of a dysfunctional couple.
