Bluebeard's Seven Wives (2009)
20 x 45 x 5cm each
In a nod to tradition which places a murderous Bluebeard as victim of treacherous female curiosity, flawed characteristics shape these imperfect heroines.
Given mythologies of their own, their tales reflect on duality, deceit and the delicacy of human sanity. Wearing borrowed faces they remain frozen in the climactic money shot, discarded bodies in the bloody chamber. Pinned to the wall like insects their fragility sits uncomfortably with their dubious pasts.
